Smart Tooling
The Project Engineer will be responsible to design and execute complex composite solutions for customers utilizing Spintech Holdings, Inc.’s novel tooling and composite fabrication technologies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Will lead the execution of developing advanced composite tooling and manufacturing solutions
- Will develop and conduct tests to assure solution success prior to project validation/verification phase
- Will be responsible for generating and managing project schedules, managing project budget and leading engineering effort
- Will lead design reviews with customers, suppliers, and/or other departments to ensure sound designs and drawing accuracy, including visits as necessary to customers and suppliers
- Responsible to communicate directly with the customer on technical issues to get resolution of unknowns and required approvals
- Responsible to deliver a working solution to the customer site and to get sign-off from the customer on the solution while on-site
- Will coordinate with Finance to initiate milestone invoicing at appropriate intervals
- Will enter bills of material and operations directly into Company’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system
- Will take a lead role in solving technical problems through-out the project, with assistance from the management
- May manage large technical projects that require a number of supporting engineers
- Will help to develop engineering standards and methods that create an environment where quality products are developed and executed
- Will prepare and present engineering change documentation when required with sign-off by the customer
- Will need to travel to customer locations to implement solutions, typically one week in length but possible to be longer
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
- U.S. Citizenship required
- Negative drug screen and favorable background check (Note: we are a smoke free facility)
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering and six to eight years of related experience
- Experience with email and calendar software (i.e. Outlook, Groupwise) and Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Project
- Hybrid work location: Part time remote, part time in office (25-50% on average, but mandated by project requirements and schedules).
IDEAL CANDIDATES WILL EXHIBIT THE FOLLOWING QUALITIES/ABILITIES:
- Hands on experience in engineering, design and development of advanced composite tooling and manufacturing solutions
- Understanding of advanced composite materials with a history of practical problem solving, preferably in aerospace
- Solid understanding of manufacturing processes used in advanced composites, preferably resin transfer molding (RTM) and automation techniques
- Ability to solve difficult technical problems using systematic approach
- Good organizational skills and strong verbal and written communication skills
- Must possess negotiation and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, conferring with management on high impact matters
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures or governmental regulations Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups and managers, clients, customers, and the general public
- Work requires individual to devise own methods, to assist with techniques utilized by others, to exercise ingenuity, to analyze situations, and apply judgment required to make decisions of technical nature
- Must be able to multi-task and assume responsibility for several projects at one time in differing levels of completion

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, UV exposure, fumes, spark and heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Duties may require the occasional use of/contact with/exposure to various hazardous materials (such as, but not limited to grease, oils, lubricants, paint, thinner, parts cleaner, chemicals, etc.).
